Nanuk 915-2005 915 Case with Padded Divider (Silver) Review

Bombproof compact DLSR case,

I have to admit, I have an embarrassing number of hard cases and most of then are Nanuk cases. I own a Pelican Storm and an SKB case as well, but even though the Pelican was actually more expensive than the equivalent sized Nanuk case the Nanuk cases are simply the best ones.

Their designed in such a way that their latch system is easily the most convenient to open and close without sacrificing any peace of mind that it'll pop open when you don't want it to and the internal volume of the case is maximized for the exterior size. This particular case is the one I use for my DSLR equipment for travel where I know I'm going to be sticking to one or two lenses. It's just big enough to fit all of the small camera accessories, the main camera body (which is a compact Canon SL1), a zoom lens and a pancake prime lens installed on the body as well as my 430EX II flash. I added my own straps from an old piece of luggage I wasn't using any more and they snapped right on using the eyelets on the case, however be aware that the space around the eyelets is rather constrained and many latches won't fit or will be very difficult to get off once you get them on. Still, I was too cheap to buy the Nanuk strap so that's what I get.

I feel 100% confident that my camera is pretty much bomb proof while in this case, which is not how I feel when it's in a soft bag. If I were to accidentally drop the case with my camera and lenses down a flight of stairs while in this case, I don't think I would even freak out I would get to the case at the bottom feeling pretty good that everything inside would be OK.

Nanuk is a Canadian company, and manufacturers these cases in Canada. I can get behind behind that, especially since the product is so good.

mBot Ranger Transformable STEM Educational Robot Kit provided me this for review. The mBot Ranger it's blue tooth enabled so I could wirelessly control its movements. This is not just a remote control toy you take out of the box and play with. Part of the learning is putting this together. The great thing about this is that it doesn't require soldering. The dangers of soldering is a barrier for children who wants to get into robots. This uses just nuts and bolts and it comes with all the tools.

Once i'm done with building the next level is making an autonomous robot by programming it in Scratch.

Also the MakeBlock forums are a great place to find the answers to take it to the next level to create projects not in the manual. This is a good learning platform to robotics, programming, and the Arduino.

Considering you get two of these in a pack, I think the value is more than fair, especially as they do everything listed here. The compass isn't anything fancy, just a basic plastic clip on compass, but it points North (which is really all I want in a compass) and having it be detachable is an extra bonus.

The whistle works well, but you have to make sure to purse your lips correctly and it needs a good strong blow. I was really impressed with the fire starter, while it took a few seconds to get the hang of the motion, I could clearly see sparks (as shown in the video) and it's a really clever design to have it be part of the buckle so it doesn't get in the way.

My only complaint about this bracelet is very minor, it's a little on the small side. While I was able to put it on my wrist and turn it easily, it was quite tight on my husband's larger wrists and I even pinched his skin when trying to fasten it. I would consider him to have large wrists, but not huge, so absolutely make sure you measure if you feel you have large wrists and make sure this will fit you!

Overall, just an amazing value for a handy, useful tool that comes in an easy to wear way,for campers or hikers its perfect.

Pros: + Whistle is nice and shrill, loud enough to be heard over distances. + Firestarter works great, is integrated well into design. + Comfortable to wear when it's on. + Compass works. + Compass is removable.

My past experiences with blue tooth FM transmitters for cars have been pretty poor, especially in terms of audio quality, so I wasn't expecting much from this product. To my surprise, not only is the product quite stylish and easy to set up, but the audio quality is superb and the volume levels are even better than my previous AUX adapter.

Setting up this adapter is easy, you plug it in and sync your blue tooth to the device, and right away you can start playing music or videos out of your car speakers. The quality of the audio is very crisp and didn't waver at all during my use, but if you don't have blue tooth this device comes with an AUX port and a cable as well. One surprising, but appreciated thing is that the quality is just as good on the blue tooth as via cable! The volume levels were louder than any of the other adapters I've used, allowing me to have loud music without the usual static that comes with cranking the speaker way up.

The device has a display that you can rotate to any angle, and a button to accept calls, pause music, and so on. The button is slightly raised, so you can find it without looking, and the quality of the calls I made with it was very good. My only complaint about his adapter is the USB port. No matter what USB cable I tried, I could not get even a decent charging speed out of this adapter. Other adapters with charging ports have given me five or six times the charging speed that this one did, and I have no idea why. The charging was so slow that the battery still drained when plugged in, playing music and using GPS. Aside from that, this adapter is a great device, but that charging speed is just horrible.

I would absolutely recommend it for playing music, but if you need a fast charger, for you this might not be the right one!
